Jewellery Care and Sizing Guide
Jewellery Care Instructions
I love the natural tone of silver, which is why Atelier Hanki jewellery is not coated to achieve artificial shine. Silver retains its luster best when worn regularly. It naturally tarnishes over time as it reacts with oxygen—this is a normal part of aging. To slow down tarnishing, store your jewellery in an airtight plastic bag when not in use. Keeping pieces separate also helps prevent scratching.
Clean your jewellery regularly using mild soap or dishwashing liquid, a soft brush, and dry with a soft cloth. Shine can be restored with silver polishing products, but the best results come from a professional jeweller. Note that polishing agents may damage certain gemstones, especially pearls, which are very delicate and should never be treated with polish. I also do not recommend using silver polish on lava stone jewellery.
To prevent tarnishing, avoid contact with chemicals such as lotions, hair products, and perfumes. Jewellery should be the last thing you put on after styling and the first thing you remove before bathing. This is especially important with pearl jewellery, as pearls are highly sensitive to chemicals.
Silver jewellery should not be worn in the sauna, swimming pool, or during sunbathing. Avoid wearing jewellery during sports, household chores, or gardening, as these activities may cause scratches or other damage.
Black-patinated jewellery will lose its patina over time depending on use, which also changes the appearance of the piece. Patinated rings, in particular, fade faster due to constant friction. Patina can be restored by a professional. Patinated jewellery should be cleaned as rarely and as gently as possible, avoiding any abrasive contact. Do not use polishing agents.

How to Determine Your Ring Size
If you don’t know your ring size, it can be estimated with a few measurements. Keep in mind that finger circumference can vary throughout the day. Factors like salty food, alcohol, heat, and physical activity may cause swelling. In cold weather, fingers tend to be slimmer. For best accuracy, measure your finger at different times of day and in normal conditions.
You can also estimate your size by measuring the inner diameter of an existing ring using a precise ruler (to 0.5 mm accuracy). Note: wider rings usually require a size 0.5 mm larger than very thin rings. For the most accurate result, visit a professional jeweller—this is especially recommended for wide rings.
How to measure your ring size
1) Wrap a strip of paper around your finger so that it fits comfortably – not too tight or too loose.
2) Mark the point where the paper overlaps.
3) Measure the length of the strip with a ruler – this is your inner circumference.
4) Use the chart below to find your ring size. Inner diameter (mm) = Ring size
